FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Antonio, Texas, August 4, 2023 – Amid the backdrop of recent challenges to LGBTQ+ rights, Sigma Phi Epsilon's Chicago Society is leading the charge towards a more inclusive future. At a special reception held during the 2023 Sigma Phi Epsilon Conclave, the Society proudly announced the launch of two ground-breaking initiatives: the Donald C. McCleary Memorial Leadership Endowment Fund and the Chicago Society Fund.

Named after the esteemed past grand president and Order of the Golden Heart recipient, Donald C. McCleary, the Memorial Leadership Endowment Fund will provide annual support to undergraduate leaders dedicated to championing the same progressive causes that Don spent his life advocating.

The Chicago Society Fund is our commitment to providing mentorship, programming, and events in honor of and for the benefit of our GBTQ+ brothers. This fund aims to foster an inclusive environment by investing in educational and leadership resources focusing on GBTQ+ undergraduate and alumni brothers and allies.

Chicago Society Board of Directors member, Scott Schwartz, expressed his excitement at the announcement. "The launch of these funds symbolizes a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to empower and inspire our brothers. These endowments ensure that the spirit of leaders like Don McCleary and our trailblazing GBTQ+ brothers continue to echo through generations of SigEps."

Cody Rapp, another member of the Board of Directors, said, "The impact of these funds go well beyond providing financial support. These funds represent our fraternity's dedication to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and nurturing environment college men. Our goal is to continue creating opportunities for all brothers to grow, lead, and succeed."

Isaac Roman, a Director at the Society, added, "Through these endowment funds, we honor the past and invest in the future. The fraternity's strength lies in its brothers, their diversity, their leadership, and their passion. Today, we take a significant step to ensure these values are upheld and championed."

In a climate of growing challenges to LGBTQ+ rights, the launch of the Donald C. McCleary Memorial Leadership Endowment Fund and the Chicago Society Fund is a beacon of hope, marking a substantial stride towards a more inclusive fraternity experience and solidifying Sigma Phi Epsilon's continued commitment to supporting its brothers and their collective development.
