McCleary was "a champion of basic fairness and common decency. Don worked tirelessly so that one day, all Americans will enjoy full equal rights, freedom from discrimination and the unconditional love of their families… we owe it to his memory to continue his work."

- Elizabeth Birch

Former HRC Executive Director

Background:

Kief House, the building adjacent to the Zollinger House in Richmond Virginia has been generously purchased for Sigma Phi Epsilon by Brother Garry Kief.

Campaign:

This campaign is to establish a physical space in brother Don McCleary's honor inside Sigma Phi Epsilon’s Kief House. Brother McCleary’s name and history will be prominently on display in the new facility. By honoring Brother McCleary with a donation, the Chicago Society members will ensure that SigEp brothers, for generations to come, will know of Brother McCleary’s tireless work toward advancing equal rights.

GOAL: $25,000

UPDATED GOAL: $35,000

Brother McCleary's name and history will serve to memorialize all those who were taken too soon and who were often invisible. Men that gave of their time, talent, and resources to effect positive change in Sigma Phi Epsilon; this memorial will serve as a reminder of their contribution to our beloved fraternity.
